Anyone who is pursuing a Standard Teaching Certificate is required to go through the process of being fingerprinted and background-checked through TEA before moving forward with the Certificate program. This requirement will need to be completed by the end of Course 1.
The fingerprints need to be linked to your TEAL account in ECOS. If they are not linked, you will need to submit a help desk ticket with TEA and request for your fingerprints to be linked. If you did not go through IdentoGO, you will need to have your fingerprints completed again.

You must first verify with your prior EPP if you were marked as a finisher/completer. If you were coded as a “finish/completer” for the same certificate area you are seeking with Teach Us, you will likely need to return to your former EPP to complete the Certificate. If you were not marked as a “finisher/completer,” then you will need to ask your former EPP to fill out a transfer form for Teach Us.
You have completed all the coursework and clinical practice required for your certificate and only have exam(s) left to pass before being recommended for your Standard Certificate.
If you’re not enrolling into the same certification area, you will still need to request a transfer form.
Our program provides everything you need including test preparation, required certification coursework and support through our custom payment options that make sense for you and your budget. Candidates only pay a one-time enrollment fee of $295 during the enrollment process and can choose from one of the following program payment options. The following document will explain how to submit an official transcript, where to submit the transcripts, and how to add them to the application when you apply.
Candidates must complete 30 hours of field-based experiences (FBEs) prior to assignment in an internship or clinical teaching.
Field-based experiences must include at least 15 clock hours in which the candidate, under the direction of the EPP, is actively engaged in instructional or educational activities that include (i) authentic school settings in a public school accredited by the TEA or other school approved by the TEA for this purpose; (ii) instruction by content certified teachers; (iii) actual students in classrooms/instructional settings with identity-proof provisions; (iv) content or grade-level specific classrooms/instructional settings; and (v) written reflection of the observation.
It depends. You will need to submit a Coursework and/or Field-Based Experience Transfer Request form in Populi to have your prior work reviewed. Coursework older than 5 years will not be accepted in transfer. To be considered for transfer, you will need to submit transcripts, coursework information, assignments, observation logs/reflections in the form.
Yes. Per TAC 228.35 (e) (1) (c) up to 15 clock-hours of field-based experience may be satisfied by serving as a long-term substitute. A long-term substitute is an individual who has been hired by a school/district to work at least 30 consecutive days in an assignment as a classroom teacher. Experience may occur after the candidate’s admission to an EPP or during the two years before the date the candidate is admitted to the EPP. The candidate’s experience in instructions or educational activities but be documented by the EPP and must be obtained at a public or private accredited or approved for the purpose by the TEA.
If you have been a long-term substitute, email firstname.lastname@example.org. You will need to have your HR department complete a Verification of Employment form along with the Coursework and/or Field-Based Experience form. Both forms must be submitted for any consideration.
All teacher candidates in the state of Texas are required to successfully complete a clinical practice component as part of their certification requirements. Teach Us Texas candidates can satisfy this requirement through either an internship or clinical teaching. If you have questions regarding the specific details of internships or clinical teaching, review the Clinical Practice Options video by clicking on the link below.
TEA requires you to complete a full academic year of internship/probationary or 14 weeks of clinical teaching. Prior experience cannot be used to waive clinical practice.
Do you have prior coursework? If so, it may transfer to Teach Us! Candidates may substitute prior or ongoing service, training, or education, provided that the experience, education, or training is not also counted as a part of the internship, clinical teaching, or practicum requirements, was provided by an approved EPP or an accredited institution of higher education within the past five years and is directly related to the certificate being sought.
Military service members or veterans may also receive credit for military service, training, or education if your military service, training, or education is directly related to the certificate being sought.
Talk to your enrollment advisor to determine whether your credit will transfer and how this can accelerate your pace to becoming a teacher!
