Summary of what participants can expect during the webinar series:

  • Day 1 of the Core 4-8 ELAR TExES exam webinar focuses on foundational concepts of literacy development, including the importance of oral language, phonological awareness, and vocabulary acquisition. Additionally, this day covers instructional approaches for teaching basic linguistic concepts and phonemic awareness, as well as techniques for selecting and using instructional materials that support oral language development in grades 4-8.
  • Day 2 of the webinar centers on reading comprehension strategies and writing instruction. Participants examine effective methods for teaching reading comprehension skills. We also explore techniques for fostering students' writing abilities, including developing ideas, organizing content, and applying language conventions.  
  • On Day 3, the webinar addresses language conventions and assessment techniques for evaluating student literacy skills. Additionally, the day covers various assessment methods, including formative and summative assessments, to measure student progress and inform instructional decisions.  The final day of the webinar focuses on integrating technology into ELAR instruction and preparing for the Core 4-8 ELAR TExES exam. Participants will explore innovative ways to incorporate digital tools and resources to enhance literacy instruction and engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
